Coop Group opened the largest automated shop with night-time mode

In June 2022, the COOP Group opened the largest automated shop with night-time operation in Český Krumlov where the customers can shop 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is the second fully automated shop in the Czech Republic which enables to shop outside of regular opening hours at our self-service POS. The first shop of this type was opened in Strakonice in March this year. In contrast to the first shop in Strakonice, which is a rather small shop, the shop in Český Krumlov belongs to standard size shops with a sales area of 140 square meters and a much larger range of goods.

During the usual opening hours, customers are served by the staff. For purchases outside regular opening hours, customers use the self-service POS. The shop offers more than 4,000 items of articles allowing people to make a complete family shopping at any time and without queues.

The idea of the fully automated shops is completely new but the experience with the operation of the first shop of this kind in Strakonice is very positive. Customers have already made thousands of purchases in the night operation which indicates that poeple get used to the system very quickly and time-flexible shopping is attractive for the consumer.
